This is reminder to all users of cloud hosted systems to backup their data, the cloud provider may not do it for you. Most cloud systems only provide the space or software system for you to use with no backup. If indoubt ask your provider now….

Microsoft released patches in July to update Windows pc and server to mitigate against SWAPSGS vulnerabilities. This is a stealthy attack where a patient hacker can work in the background to steal sensitive data from the inner workings of the PC cpu kernel caching systems. The Microsoft patches closes this possibility and needs to be implemented on all servers and pcs.

National Cyber Security Centre advice on Sextortion scams which are a type of phishing attack whereby people are coerced to pay a BitCoin ransom because they have been threatened with sharing video of themselves visiting adult websites. These scams are made to appear all the more credible because they provide seemingly plausible technical details about how this was achieved, and the phish can sometimes also include the individual’s password.
